My memory cup

My artifact is stainless steel cup.

This color is bronze. This material is stainless steel and it is prone to rust. This stainless is in Tubame and Sanjou and the ones are famous all over Japan because there are high design and technology skills. This good point is that you can drink your drinks cool and long-lasting because stainless steel is durable.

My school was originally scheduled to go on a school trip to the Kansai region, but I went on a school trip to my hometown due to coronavirus. So I felt a little sad and disappointed. However, when I actually went there, I had fun making it with everyone in my class and was able to create something that will last forever and it has become a great memory. When I went on a school trip in high school, I made it by myself. I hit my own stainless steel cup and patterned them the way I wanted. According to the staff at the place where I made it, it is interesting to see how different patterns are for each person.  "what kind of patterns do most people use?"  I asked the staff. He said, "The most common pattern is the Mokume-Gane pattern". So I tried to do that pattern, but it looked too difficult and  I didn't. I chose a pattern like scales and it is now my favorite.  I'm using it now and it's gradually rusting out and taking on a different color than it did at first. I can enjoy the change. Therefore, I think that this artifact is important for me.

This artifact is made in Tubame-Sanjo City and Tubame-Sanjo City is known as a place of typical local Industry and metalworking technology is well developed. On the other hand, there are social and cultural issues about local industries. First, they are facing aging craft workers and a lack of successors.  Second, they are unable to renew equipment and develop sales channels due to lack of funds. they should teach good points about traditions to many young people and young people should carry on the traditions.
